 Inside Journeyman Wireman Apprenticeship

Construction Wireman/Construction Electrician Program

 

 

Follow these instructions to apply for any of the training programs:

 

I)       Schedule an Appointment: You must call on Thursdays to make an appointment!

 

Call (865) 379-6214 on Thursdays between 9:00 A.M. and Noon with any questions about the programs or to make an appointment to attend a Tuesday orientation/application session. Applications are taken at 6:00 pm on Tuesdays at the JATC office: 3211 Regal Dr., Suite E, Alcoa, TN 37701.

 

2)       Bring a Resume to the Tuesday Session as scheduled:

 

Put together a brief resume showing a complete employment (work) history. Show beginning and ending dates (month and year) for employment with each employer beginning with current or most recent employer. State why your employment was terminated which could be for any reason such as: cut-back or lay off (reduction in work force), business closed, company relocated, unhappy with employer or supervisor, simply was or are looking for a new or different kind of work with better pay and benefits, or seeking a more meaningful and rewarding job or career. NOTE: Those with no work history need to simply state they have no previous employment or work history and are Looking to start a career in this industry.

 

3)      Bring all Transcripts:

Bring a copy of all transcripts including those for: high school, college, technical school or other training providers. Transcripts are required at the time apprentice applicants apply. No transcripts are required for the CW/CE program though it is recommended.

 

To qualify for Apprenticeship: An applicant must have 4000 hours documented experience in electrical construction work, OR: they must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate or have a GED, must have one credit in Algebra 1 or passed a post high school algebra course (credit or non-credit,), and they must take an Aptitude Test given by the JATC. All applicants must be physically able to learn to perform the work of the trade in a safe and productive manner, be willing and able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and warnings, able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds, lift and carry tools and materials common to the job, learn to use the tools of the trade, be able to bend, stoop, crawl and work in confined spaces.
